CONCEPT: "BUILDING BRIDGES"

“A bridge is a meeting place. a possibility, a metaphor”   - Jeanette Winterson

A bridge is a structure engineered and built to span a physical obstacle, such as a body of water or a road, without blocking the way underneath. Conceptually a “bridge” encourages understanding and appreciation of cultural differences and can diminish or resolve gaps between parties of different viewpoints, such as art and science or politics and economy. Building bridges can be an aid or an assistant providing safe passage over hindrances, obstructions, or something that impedes or prevents progress, acting as a blockage restricting future growth.

Building bridges has never been as important as right now and these bridges are of significant consequence around the globe. We can build bridges by starting a conversation or taking action, whether on a small or large scale.

Work submitted depicts the artist's individual vision of what "Building Bridges" symbolizes while contemplating various political, environmental, social, economic, cultural or interpersonal relationship issues.  As part of the 15 Year Anniversary of Building Bridges Art Exchange is pleased to present entries from our first International Student Artist Open Call for both high school and college students.
