On September 29, 2024, at 5:30 PM, Villa Vertua in Nova Milanese, Italy will host the opening of “Reflections on the Color of Italian Space,” a solo exhibition by artist Walter Erra Hubert. Organized in collaboration with the Building Bridges Art Exchange’s Founder Marisa Caichiolo and Fondazione Rossi’s Founder Luigi Rossi, and curated by Massimo Bignardi, the exhibition offers the public the chance to explore the deep connection the artist has developed with Italy, a country that has significantly influenced his artistic journey. Walter Erra Hubert, born in California and trained at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, has established a profound connection with Italy, where he resides for part of the year and has a studio in Sermoneta, Lazio. Hubert is known for his large-scale works, characterized by a unique expressive energy that reflects his ongoing investigation into the relationship between matter and spirit.
During his stays in Italy, the artist has captured the essence of local landscapes and architecture, transforming them into compositions that blend traditional painting techniques with innovative tools. “I am lucky. I have the opportunity to live in two countries throughout the year. Living in Italy, with its charming villages and hilltop towns, is a constant source of creative inspiration,” Hubert stated.
The exhibition will be open to the public until November 24, 2024, offering an immersive experience in the colors and atmospheres of Italy, reinterpreted by the artist through vigorous brushstrokes and fluid materials, also inspired by his experiences in open spaces.
