CURATORIAL RESIDENCY
Above are images from our curatorial residencies with Gabriela Urtiaga, head of the curatorial department at CCK, Kirchner Cultural Center, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Julia Honer, head of the curatorial department at KAI 10 | Arthena Foundation, in Düsseldorf, Germany, and Laura Ayala head of the Curatorial & Educational department of MUSA Museum of the Arts of Guadalajara, Mexico. BBAX is pleased to announce an open call to curators working and living outside Los Angeles who are interested in getting a deeper insight into the local LA art scene.
The residencies we offer are short-term and intensive, typically spanning from 7 to 15 days, and are tailored to each resident’s interests through studio visits, meetings with art professionals, visits to galleries, institutions and Museums and attendance at selected performances and other events. With this approach, we aim to spark exciting exchanges and new opportunities while forging durable relationships, both personal and institutional, on the long run.
While the residency is based in Los Angeles and focused on the city’s artistic context, BBAX also aims to create connections with other cities across USA which foster strong artistic communities.
Reflecting the local art context’s multifaceted nature, we welcome applications based on a wide spectrum of curatorial practices, research interests and professional experiences. BBAX residencies are not fully funded.
We look forward to hearing from you!
