Building Bridges Art Exchange (BBAX) presents 10'000 Signatures, a solo Project featuring the work of Martynas Ivinskas.

Martynas was born in 1976 in Kaunas, Lithuania.

The artist pledged to create one work of art per day throughout the year.

Obviously, such idea is suitable to capture the changes in the reality - aging, growth, maturation, development, regression, degradation, loss, etc. So, the choice of media is also almost obvious - a moving and still photography. Photographs and films. Even in literature, like in Joyce's "Ulysses". The principle is the same, the only difference is that the changes in the reality are recorded within the limits of one day.

Here, interpretation begins and questions arise. What if instead of a signature there was any word, such as "hello"? Would its visual impact and result of finished work be very different then? Probably not. It would not be very different, even if there was any other word, a matrix of letters or a patchwork of icons. 10'000 uniform elements make such a dense picture where everything charmingly blends into something resembling computer graphics and asks the viewer to apply the Op art viewpoint.

In the world of art, the signature is a key statement of identity and recognition criteria. In mundane life, signature scribbled on invoice claims to anonymous testimony, that a living person as such, has accepted or issued goods. On the other hand, it is perfectly predictable that there cannot be a passport without a signature of an individual (here we are touching the legal status of a person specially now a days is a very strong topic among us).
