Join Building Bridges Art Exchange "Artists in Residence Program" for an engaging presentation of the collaborative work of our artists in residence, Samira Nowparast of Iran and Marco Miranda of Mexico.
Utopia is the collaboration of two cultures, thoughts and experiences to communicate on the present situation of human beings and our universal, aimless pursuit of an ideal world.
Through large-scale installations the artists merge the material and dream world as two sides of the human psyche, the conscious and subconscious in order to focus awareness on their question:
Does the pursuit of utopia offer hope or render contentment unachievable ?
Is utopia possible?
Are utopian ideas meant to be acted on?
If not, what other purposes do they serve?
This exhibition will open up the dreams, ideas and energies behind the result of the collaborative work these artists share during almost two month of residence.
It will question the ups and downs of the visionary approach to life, considering the ways in which utopias from the past might help us rethink our world today.
