OPENING RECEPTION:OCTOBER 1ST - 7 PM
On October 1st 2016, Building Bridges Art Exchange will host a special reception to the guests artists coming from Japan part of our International Art Program in partnership with art du marche.
art du marche searches for young Japanese artist and offers them assistance to expand and explore on bigger stages in the international art world.
The art installation, lectures, conferences and workshops around the exhibition will run October 1st to November 15th and invites us to imagine a world where misconceptions and stereotypes between cultures can be broken down and re-imagined through the modern works of young people, unafraid to explore common bonds.
Based on Eastern mythology today contemporary young upcoming artist creates an animated world that incorporates beauty with a long history behind and the latest pop culture of Manga and Anime.
They create a dialogue between high-fashion, traditional Japanese rituals, spirituality, feminism, and sexuality, often with the use of futuristic images, while re-contextualizing traditional customs, mannerisms, and trends otherworldly, mythic spaces, with a capsule, symbol of metamorphosis, as a recurring motif.
