On the Town: See YoungArts Los Angeles
Visual artist Emily Cattouse, whose work is on view in the exhibition at Building Bridges Art Exchange.
From tomorrow through the weekend, Angelenos will have a chance to witness the next generation of talent when the winners of the 7th Annual YoungArts Los Angeles program strut their stuff in a series of events including a performance at Royce Hall, concerts and film screenings at Schoenberg Hall and an exhibition at Building Bridges Art Exchange.
Founded in Miami in 1981 by Lin and Ted Arison, The National YoungArts Foundation’s mission is to identify and nurture young artists in the visual, literary, design and performing arts, and assist them at critical junctures in their educational and professional development. Through a wide range of annual programs, performances, and partnerships with some of the nation’s leading cultural institutions, YoungArts aspires to create a strong community of alumni and a platform for a lifetime of encouragement, opportunity and support. The foundation has expanded beyond Miami to include New York and Los Angeles. Alumni of the program include actors Viola Davis and Kerry Washington, Billy Porter, Josh Groban
The highlight of the Program are the exhibitions and the performances. Taking place March 26–31, 77 YoungArts winners have the opportunity to connect and collaborate with their peers and learn from artistic mentors in their field through a series of workshops, master classes, performances and exhibitions.
