Bergamot Station Arts Complex in Santa Monica is home to a variety of art galleries. This Saturday, December 12, will be a busy day for the Arts Complex...in addition to its holiday event (12-4pm), BUILDING BRIDGES ART EXCHANGE debuts two solo exhibitions from 5-8:30pm. BBX is a nonprofit organization guided by an international board of directors which partners with other international foundations, museums, and cultural centers. In the past ten years, BBX has collaborated with over twenty-five countries via traveling exhibitions and artist exchanges. It presents nine to twelve international exhibitions a year. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what language you speak: Art is a universal language. For the past 10 years, the Building Bridges Art Exchange at the Bergamot Station Art Center in Santa Monica has been working to connect artists across the globe to exchange ideas and share creative breakthroughs. On Saturday, the nonprofit launches two new solo exhibitions — one from far away and one from close to home. The main gallery space hosts international artist Franco Marrocco’s “The Red Studio & Other Works,” and concurrently in the project room Venice-based artist J.J. Renowned Photographer J.J. L’Heureux Shows A Different Side In Santa Monica Exhibit

The art of J.J. L’Heureux will be featured in a solo exhibit at BUILDING BRIDGES ART EXCHANGE in Santa Monica (Bergamot Station Arts Center) starting next Saturday, Dec. 12. Although L’Heureux is well known for her photography, she works in various mediums. Her solo show entitled “J.J. L’Heureux: Etichette” is curated by Marisa Caichiolo and will spotlight her whimsical collage – Etichette. While visiting a friend in Italy, she noticed a variety of old style cheese labels such as Gorgonzola, Mozzarella, Bel Paiese and other kinds of Italian cheeses. She was drawn to the designs, and the colors of these traditional wrappers and she decided to create collages using the Italian cheese labels. “
