On View Now: Palos Verdes Art Center and Building Bridges Art Exchange Present Two New Exhibitions

On view now at Palos Verdes Art Center are two new exhibitions. "A Garden of Excesses" and "COLLABORATIONS: prints from Mixografia." "A Garden of Excesses" is a solo exhibition by the Cuban artist Angel Ricardo Ricardo Rios, presented in partnership with Building Bridges Art Exchange. The exhibition features paintings, drawings, and monumental inflatable sculptures by the artist. The exhibition is curated by PVAC director Joe Baker and Marisa Caichiolo, director of Building Bridges Art Exchange and BBAX curator Evelyn Pener. Palos Verdes Art Center Displays A Garden of Excesses

The Palos Verdes Peninsula, with its rolling hills covered with lush trees and fauna, has some of the most beautiful gardens in all of California. It’s a setting fit for the works of artist Ángel Ricardo Ricardo Rios. This month the Palos Verdes Art Center honors the beauty of nature, with its newest exhibition, A Garden of Excesses. The show features paintings, drawings, and monumental, inflatable sculptures by the artist. Ricardo Rios presents an abundance of vibrant, breathtaking large-scale paintings. It’s fecund garden bursting with lush foliage rooted in his life in Latin America. A transplanted Cuban, Ricardo Rios was born in Holguin, and has lived half his life in Cuernavaca, México.

At a time of rapid change in U.S.-Cuba relations, a Cuban-born artist known for his vibrant, oversized paintings is showcasing his artwork through October at the Palos Verdes Art Center. Arts supporters welcomed Angel Ricardo Ricardo Rios at a Friday reception for his “A Garden of Excesses” exhibit, which will run through Oct. 4 at the Rancho Palos Verdes center. Rios grew up in Cuba but has lived for the last 24 years in Mexico City, where he is inspired by the diverse people and vibrant colors of everyday Mexico.
